Dobsonfly (originally what I thought was an Early Brown Stonefly)

This was in my garage. Freeky looking! I put the spoon by it for scale.

  1. isn't that a Dobsonfly, what would be an adult helgarmite? Sure does look like it! Either way, that is way toooooooo big for me!

  2. You are correct, Dana. Thanks for the info. I did some research and stoneflies and dobsonflies are both used as fish bait.

  3. yup, when in the, I guess, larve form they are some boogers! They will pinch the dickens outta you! I never liked fishing with them...and won't to this day! They make some very pretty wings though!
